CHILDREN

Your LOCAL trusted opticians keeping your eyes healthy
As the Association of Dispensing Opticians quotes, “Healthy sight can contribute to a healthy start in life. Good vision is critical to a child’s early educational, functional, and social development.” For this reason amongst many others, you should ensure your children have regular eye tests with a professional Optometrist. As a guide our Child Vision Specialist, known as an Orthoptist, will start seeing your child from the age of 6 months old. From then on your child should have regular eye test every 12 months, especially prior to them starting full time education. Eye sights for children up the age of 18 years are FREE too!

In todays’ multiscreen society, children are highly exposed to computer screens, TVs and other multimedia devices. They are increasingly using these devices both for education and recreation on daily basis and can experience many of the same symptoms related to extensive computer use as adults. This could lead to eye discomfort, fatigue, blurred vision and headaches. Children are also more susceptible to developing some of these problems which could also lead to conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (squint) and uncorrected refractive error (short sightedness [myopia], long sightedness and astigmatism), which are the most common.

We are also happy to visit local schools to educate children on the importance of looking after their eyes, as we have recently done at “school” for more information or to request a visit please contact us direct.

Our aim is to help look after your little treasures’ eye sight and general eye care.
