FULL EYE EXAMINATIONS FOR CHILDREN

Visual development can be affected by poor sight or unbalanced eye co-ordination. Many eye conditions in early childhood go undetected and cannot be fully corrected later in life. Some schools do not provide visual screening for children, making it difficult to detect visual problems. Learning difficulties can also be linked, so early detection is always important.

Your child’s first sight test can be performed before they can read, using pictures and other objects to complete the sight test. Our Child Vision Specialist, known as an Orthoptist, will start seeing your child from the age of 6 months old. The examination determines whether there is any risk of visual problems now or in the future. It is estimated that one out of every four children have visual problems with no symptoms.
We are aware that children do not always take kindly to wearing spectacles and we are pleased to offer an extensive range of different children’s frames.
